What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy uses the state of hypnosis to facilitate change in your thoughts, behaviors, habits, beliefs and perceptions. 

It is an effective tool to remove the roadblocks that are in your way to embody a fulfilled and inspired life. It is a way to guide the analytical mind into relaxation and bypass the mind chatter that often times feels like a broken record, always repeating the same negative talk. By going beyond the barrier of the critical mind we have access to the subconscious mind, your internal guidance system that is incredibly powerful. You can imagine it as your personal super computer that stores everything you have done, experienced or thought in your life. This is where you can access the answers you are looking for.

  • For sure you have heard the saying „You are your only limit“. It is the programs of our past, that have been installed in our subconscious mind, that often times hold us back from living our full potential. In our childhood our conscious mind is not yet fully formed - therefore there is no filter for the information we take in through all our senses. In this time new concepts and ideas are being established and they become long term patterns that we live out our whole life without consciously signing up for them. This can be negative beliefs, distorted self-perception, self-sabotage mechanisms, unwanted behavior and so on. 

    The state of deep relaxation in hypnosis, where the doors to our subconscious are open is beneficial for bringing across new, supportive suggestions (=invitations to have a certain experience, aiming towards your desires) which then can encourage positive change in your life.

I do believe that our essence state of being is an effortless calm that feels spacious, clear, joyful and loving. In this state your sense of self depends on nothing and action flows out of it without a lot of effort. What separates us from this embodiment is our conditioning and programming - everything we have learned about our self and the world through our experiences. Working with the subconscious mind and your inner resources gives the opportunity to go beyond all the layers and tap into the process of unlearning. When we realise that it is our mind rather than the situations itself that is creating most of our roadblocks, we can work on reframing perceptions, repatterning our thoughts and rewiring behaviors. 

What awaits you in a Session?

In a session you will be guided into a hypnotic state beyond the rational thinking mind to tap into your inner resources and gain the wisdom and clarity you are seeking. We will connect to different parts that represent your thoughts, feelings, emotions and inner conflicts and see why they are here, what their needs are and what they have to tell you. It will often be a visual and somatic journey on a dialogue base. I will guide you on this journey with suggestions but the answers will come from within. It is important to know that a session is always a collaborative process.

  • In a hypnosis session you’re being guided into Alpha and Theta, where you are deeply relaxed, highly focussed and open to new ideas and imagery. In this state hypnotic suggestions are easier integrated because your thinking and analyzing process is on pause. It is where you find answers and clarity through the inner wisdom of the subconscious mind. 

    The experience of being in hypnosis is very individual. Some would compare it to what it feels being deep in meditation. It is a pleasant state where the breath deepens, the heart rate slows down and the muscles become relaxed. It can heighten creativity and inspiration, where the process of visualising becomes easier for the person being hypnotized. Quite often when we connect with the subconscious mind our perception of time can change to a point where the session either feels way longer or shorter than it actually is. It is often after the journey, where you come to the realisation that you have been in an altered state of awareness, similar to when you wake up after falling asleep when reading a book or watching TV. You can sense that something has shifted, resolved or transformed. It can leave you with a sense of clarity and knowing. 

NOTE: You are unique and therefore your experience will be unique. Hypnosis is an innate state, that we go in and out of a couple of times every day. Allow your body’s natural response to hypnosis take place.

  • Hypnosis is a natural state, where our brainwaves change and we access a heightened state of awareness. You go in and out of that state a couple of times a day. Remember a situation, where you have been very absorbed, like reading a book or daydreaming - that’s very similar. You can always come out of these states. So willingly come out of hypnosis.

  • Imagine doing a hypnosis session is like a journey we go on together. You are the driver and decide where we are going. Me as the hypnotist, I am the card reader, pointing you to possible directions and destinations. You always decide if you wanna go further and how far you want to go. If you hear a suggestion that does not align with you, your subconscious mind will not take it on. The myth of losing control comes from stage hypnosis, where people do all sorts of weird things. That is a very different hypnosis approach and used for entertainment purposes. In my hypnosis sessions I am guiding you through a journey, that supports you on your path to a certain outcome or goal.

  • In a state of hypnosis you will stay fully in control over your mind, meaning that you will not share or reveal anything you would not also reveal when you’re out of hypnosis. Instead of being afraid to reveal something, you don’t want to, imagine hypnosis to be an invitation to explore and deal with the topics that challenge you, knowing that this will only happen in consent with you.

  • Even though the level and depth of trance varies from person to person, almost everyone can be hypnotized. It is a natural state, that we move in and out of every day a couple of times. It is important to know that hypnosis is a collaborative process. Rather than allowing it to be done to you, it needs your willingness to join in.
